Though your 6th grade Wee Eagles suffered their second consecutive loss last weekend versus Carlisle, there was a big improvement in their play from the week before. We felt that almost the entire team came out flat versus Brookville and we played no where near our potential. Though the outcome versus Carlisle was not what we expected, we were very satisfied with the overall effort the boys displayed this past weekend.
Our first offensive drive was impressive and ate up almost the entire first quarter before we scored with about as minute to go. We then defensively did a good job of containing Carlisle until they broke the big play with about two minutes to go in the half. Unfortunately, an untimely interception on our part (bad play call on my part) and a few big plays by our opponent in the second half sealed our fate for this game.
As I told the kids the after the Brookville game - there is no shame in losing to a good football team but there is shame in not playing close to your potential, While we didn't play to our potential on Saturday we did put forth the effort and came much closer than we did against Brookville. I was happy with our effort and even more so with the fact that we fought on even to the last minute of the game. I think that is a stark contrast to what we displayed the previous week.
This is an important week for us as we must beatr Waynesille and get back on the winning track. I look forward to seeing which team has progressed more since our first scrimmage at the start of the year.
Practices are getting shorter due to darkness and this is the time of year where the boys are challenged to keep their focus. I will continue to remind them that they need to put forth more effort if we want to win this week versus the Spartans.
We appreciate your continued support.
